Maitake, Grifola frondosa, “Dancing Mushroom”, Kumotake
There are many legends about Maitake mushroom: about mushroom-gatherers from the East who were dancing of joy, when they found Maitake; for those who disclosed this success with a rattle of clatter; for the mushroom as a symbol of a high energy waterfall or fireworks. The meaning of these stories is clear: Maitake or Grifola frondosa is a mushroom that symbolizes living energy in whatever form.
The home of Maitake is Asia, where it is highly appreciated as an aromatic edible mushroom, and for many generations it has been used as a nutritional supplement to help and support the immune system and overall health in a number of health problems.
Origin and Use of Maitake
Maitake is an edible mushroom, whose tender aroma is manifested mostly in young fruit bodies. This makes it a favourite edible mushroom, but not only for the pleasant scent, but also its content makes it highly valued in the East. Its rich content of useful nutrients enriches the daily diet of modern man and makes him healthier.
Thanks to today’s technology, the “dancing mushroom” Maitake can be used in the form of capsules – such as Hawlik’s highly concentrated extract of Maitake. In Asia, it has been known as a food supplement for centuries and used to support human health. It is especially preferred to promote normal metabolism.
Composition of Maitake
This healing mushroom features a special combination of vital ingredients: it is rich in ergosterol (inactive form of vitamin D), riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, biotin and folic acid. In addition, Maitake contains a large percentage of minerals such as iron, zinc, potassium and magnesium. The unique, however, are the Beta Glucans – a special type of polysaccharides. The most famous polysaccharide in Maitake is the grifolan in the extracted form, it is applied in Japan and the United States as a complementary therapy in the treatment of cancer. Every year, various researches around the world prove the effect of Maitake.
